MJM in Doo.Ri’s Resort 2011 Presentation

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Images of Doo.Ri’s gorgeous Resort 2011 collection are now up on Style.com!  The draped jersey pieces that Doo.Ri is known for are paired with structured jackets for a look that Style.com’s editor calls “Smart, indeed.”  She dressed up a number of her looks with bold Melissa Joy Manning cuffs and a few necklaces and rings.  Here are some photos of the presentation.

Susan Beischel wears MJM on Martha Stewart

Friday, May 7th, 2010

We were flattered that our friend Susan Beischel of Skin Lingerie wore a couple of our pieces for her appearance on the Martha Stewart show.  She paired one of our long chains with a sienna drusy and tiger eye necklace.  The episode aired this morning - watch a video preview of the show here!

Gabby & Lev’s Engagement

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

One of the things that makes us happiest is when we are reminded of how our jewelry becomes part of people’s lives.  We love hearing back from our customers, like the adorable Gabby and Lev, who were recently engaged.  Lev came into our Oakland studio and was utterly stupefied while looking at rings.  Luckily his sister was there to calm his nerves and videotape the whole process!

To propose, Lev took Gabby on a hike at Tennessee Valley in Marin and caught her completely by surprise.  We think it looks like they had an amazing day!

On that note, we just uploaded a few new diamond slice rings to our online store…and we can’t wait to see where they’ll end up!

Happy Earth Day!

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Azurite malachite makes us think of those photos of the earth taken from outer space, and Earth Day makes us think of things we can do in the coming year to be better green citizens.  Melissa recently spoke with Melissa Lum of Lucky Magazine about her sustainable business practices and a few ideas about small things we can all do to reduce our impact on the environment, and the result was this great Eco-Profile on their blog.  One tip for you jewelry lovers: Try a non-abrasive toothpaste as a sterling silver polishing agent. Using toothpaste as a polisher means you won’t be introducing harmful chemicals into the environment or down the drain.

Something to give thanks for

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend!  It’s always important to give appreciation for the support we’ve had along the way…Melissa’s mom sent us this photo of herself wearing a one-of-a-kind shining star corsage cuff on her birthday earlier this month.

Boston Props

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Below is a letter from a customer who purchased two of our diamond rings for his fiancee.  We think our diamond slices make great engagement rings for the non-traditional woman and we are always happy to work with you to create a one-of-a-kind piece if you can’t find exactly what you are looking for.  Please contact us at customerservice@mjmmetal.com or 1-888-465-2269 to inquire about custom orders.

Hi Melissa,

I just wanted to write and thank you; I have just purchased two of your diamond rings for my fiancee and she loves them.  I have attached two pictures so you know which they are!  They are totally amazing and totally us… after the drudgery of going to typical jewelers in the Boston area I was unbelievably relieved to find your work.  (we found them at Good on Charles Street)  I am an architect and couldn’t bear the thought of something typical and anonymous.  This ring is beautiful and totally honest- as my future wife says, it will forever remind us of being 26.

We are hoping to get our wedding bands from you as well…

Thanks for being a total rock star-

The MJM Love Story of James and Rebecca

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Rebecca must have known James was the one when he surprised her with a pair of MJM earrings that she had seen in InStyle-especially since he had to special order them for her because they had been discontinued. James gets major points for going the extra mile to get the earrings she loved and they really are beautiful on her.

Several years later, James and Rebecca then went off to India where he proposed to her and she of course said YES! We were thrilled to hear from Rebecca when she requested a necklace to wear for her wedding. What a compliment to be included on their special day. As Rebecca so kindly stated, “Melissa’s jewelry played a major part in our love affair!”

We wish James and Rebecca a lifetime of love and happiness (and beautiful jewelry!).
